Service Description: An organization that works to improve mental health care by creating environments that are more inclusive, positive, and accepting of those living with mental illness; provides support services to individuals living with complex mental health needs and their families and caregivers

  • Operates a helpline to provide support and information to families, caregivers, and individuals living with chronic mental illness
  • Provides mental health counsellors who offer one-on-one counselling, system navigation, information, and education
  • Supports individuals who were previously using the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario's Ask the Expert (ATE) support line that assisted indivduals living with schizphrenia and psychosis
    • Strengthening Families Together
    • Offers an online, four-session education program for family members and friends of individuals living with mental illness
    • Provides families and caregivers with the tools they need to address any issues that arise while supporting their relative with schizophrenia
    Discussion topics include:
    • Challenges facing families
    • Handling stress and anxiety
    • Communication
    • Coping with daily living
    • Crisis planning
