Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the McDowell Lake First Nation

Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Child and Family Services worker provided through Tikinagan Child and Family Services in Red Lake
  • Hospital services available at Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout and Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital in Red Lake
  • Police services provided by Ontario Provincial Police, Red Lake detachment; local ph: 807-727-2418
  • Offers health programs for members through the Health Department
  • Operates a Lands and Resources Program
  • McDowell Lake Chief, Council and members celebrated official opening in Jul 2015 of the 10 kW solar system installed on the new Band Office under construction on McDowell Lake land; the system which includes a battery solution generates enough electricity to power a community fridge and freezer and lights and electrical outlets in the Band Office and is the first source of electricity in the new community
