Service Description: |
Supports for people who are culturally deaf, oral deaf, deafened, and hard of hearing * helps people remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible * referral to other community services
Communication Devices Program - Consultation and sale of hearing and communication-related assistive devices * assistive devices augment communication, safety, and independence * includes visual smoke detectors, baby monitors, alarm clocks, amplified phones, and TTYs (text telephones) Employment Services - Career counselling and job search training * works with employers to secure accessibility in the workplace * referral to appropriate employment service or vocational training programs, including Employment Ontario-funded programs such as Job Creation Partnerships, Self-Employment Benefit, Skills Development, and Targeted Wage Subsidy Hearing Care Counselling - Communication and hearing health services to enable daily living activities * support in regards to coping with a hearing loss, communication strategies and appropriate devices * in-home visits available * support provided also to caregivers * priority is given to adults 55 years and older * fee only for devices purchased General Support Services - Supportive counselling, special assistance, case management, and advocacy for people with a hearing loss * assistance with government services * helps clients overcome life issues |
