Service Description: Community Mental Health Counsellors (CMHC) provide individualized support to people diagnosed with a developmental disability and a serious mental illness who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Counsellors work closely with individuals to help them build skills, improve wellbeing, and live as independently as possible in the community

Support is collaborative and tailored to each person’s learning style, needs, and goals

  • life-skills development (daily living, coping, problem-solving)
  • education and skill-building
  • strengths-based, recovery-focused support
  • customized learning tools based on personal learning styles
  • coordination with community services and supports
