Service Description: Provides a number of dental services for children and youth.

Children In Need Of Treatment (CINOT): financial assistance with the cost of emergency and urgent dental care for children and youth

Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO): preventative, routine, and emergency dental services for children and youth whose families meet income eligibility requirements ; treatment coverage includes regular check-ups, cleaning, fillings (cavity), X-rays, scaling, tooth extraction, urgent or emergency dental care including toothache or tooth pain

Preventive Dental Services: free dental cleanings for children and youth

Dental clinics available at the following locations:
  • Fergus Public Health office, 474 Wellington County Road 18
  • Guelph Public Health office, 160 Chancellors Way
  • Orangeville Public Health office, 180 Broadway
Fees: None
Application: Screenings, oral health assessments and HSO application appointments are offered regularly in all Public Health offices
Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Children in Need of Treatment (CINOT)
* prior to treatment, children and youth must be assessed by WDG Public Health staff for access to the program
* children or youth must be residents of Ontario and have an urgent dental condition
* parent(s) / guardian(s) do not have access to any form of dental coverage including other government programs such as OW or ODSP and cannot afford the cost of dental care

Healthy Smiles Ontario
* parent(s)/guardian(s) are required to complete an application with disclosure of personal information including financial documentation
* children are 17 years and younger, reside in Ontario, and live in a low-income household (see ontario.ca/healthysmiles for eligibility criteria) * children are automatically eligible if they or their family receive Ontario Works, Temporary Care Assistance, Ontario Disability Support Program, or Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities
